What is a wire transfer?
It’s a way of moving money from one person or financial institution to another.

Are wire transfers secure?
Bank-to-Bank wire transfers are considered to be the safest payment method worldwide. The information is encrypted and transmitted securely. Additionally, the account holders that send and receive funds must prove their identity.

If someone you don’t know asks you to send or receive a wire transfer, we recommend you decline. If you accept the request, you may become an unknowing participant in illegal money laundering. You may also become a fraud victim.

Yes, someone with your account information can wire funds directly to your First Bank of the Lake account. You will need to provide your account number and wire transfer routing number.
Processing time for domestic wire transfers varies from bank to bank, but they should generally be received within one business day. International wire transfers can be affected by several factors and could take several days to be received.
Incoming wires received before 4 pm CT should be processed and posted to your account the same day. Requests after 4 pm CT should be processed the next business day. If your incoming wire isn’t received in that time frame, contact the sender or originating bank for help.
Wire transfer requests can only be canceled if we receive your request before we send the money. If the money has already been sent, we can attempt to recall or change a wire but cannot guarantee that the request will be honored by the recipient’s bank.
